Although Martin Luther King, Jr. led a short life, he had many amazing successes, and unfortunately some failures. Some major successes and failures included:
SUCCESSES/ACHIEVEMENTS:
- Awarded Doctor of Philosophy 1955
- Became a Civil Rights Movement leader in 1956
- Leading many oppressed black Americans in the Montgomery Bus Boycott after being inspired by the actions of Rosa Park
- Helped segregation become illegal after the Montgomery Bus Boycott proved effective in 1956
- Won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964 (the youngest man to ever receive this prestigious award) for his significant role in bringing racial discrimination to an end in the United States
- Participate in other protests and campaigns
FAILURES:
- King's credibility as a leader was damaged when he joined the Albany Movement in 1962, only to discover that the campaign had much too many aims and divisions to overtake a local sheriff. King lacked the capacity to lead in Albany
- He was arrested and fined $500 for 'hindering a bus' while holding a peaceful protest as a part of the Montgomery Bus Boycott
